Sanketh Santhosh

Family Admissions Officer
A bit about Sanketh...

Sanketh recently graduated from UCLA in June 2024 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Education Studies. Education has been at the forefront of his passions and prior experiences, including tutoring K-5 students during the COVID-19 pandemic, serving as his community college's Associated Students president, or taking prospective students and their families around UCLA's campus as a Tour Guide. Mentorship has had an immense impact on Sanketh's life -- as someone who has seen the direct impact of authentic 1:1 connections and empowerment in his own life, he is eager to provide K-12 students worldwide with the same opportunities through his role in the Family Admissions Team. In his free time, he likes to drum, go on drives, and watch movies.

What is a book or podcast you love?

A book Sanketh loves is "Behold The Dreamers" by Imbolo Mbue. It's a tragic story about the US immigrant experience set against the backdrop of the 2008 financial crisis. It explores marriage, family, race, and the American Dream -- all themes Sanketh holds great personal significance to!

Tell us about a mentor or teacher who changed your life?

A mentor who changed Sanketh's life is his high school's percussion instructor Daniel Recoder. Through drumming, Daniel fundamentally shifted his perspective on life to not chase perfection, but excellence instead. His guidance and leadership when Sanketh was in high school has had a ripple effect on how Sanketh treats challenges and opportunities for growth that come his way.

Which of the Curious Cardinal values are you most passionate about?

Sanketh is most passionate about having a north star because it gives him a clear direction and purpose to strive towards at all times. No matter the brain fog or how difficult days can get, having a north star helps him approach Curious Cardinals with a first-principles mindset and reminds him of the "Why?" behind its mission every single day

What impact would you like Curious Cardinals to have?

In 10, 20, or 30 years, an individual should look back to when they were a K-12 student and credit Curious Cardinals for helping them achieve their goals and bolster their confidence. Curious Cardinals is building a generation of lifelong learners and Sanketh hopes that its impact on students is lifelong too.
