PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Vera P. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Vera is a recent graduate of Harvard University, where she studied English and Educational Studies. At Harvard, she was a peer mental health counselor, a research assistant in the field of educational sociology, and a staff writer for the Harvard Crimson. Vera is passionate about storytelling, creating projects, and cultivating a learning environment in which your child feels comfortable and confident to grow. In her free time, Vera loves reading, watching movies and sports, and writing stories. She has a friendly and curious German Shepard (Mishko!) who occasionally makes special appearances in her lessons. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in social work.

WHY THIS MATTERS:

Our mentorship sessions happen virtually over Zoom. It’s important to get a sense of how someone’s personality can come through on a video call. The best way to ensure your student is excited about learning is to have someone on the other side that they look forward to talking to.
