I’ve been a Curious Cardinals mentor since July 2021. I am passionate about mentoring students in the areas of Literature, Women & Gender Studies, Philosophy, Current Events, Cooking, Race & Ethnicity, and Government & Policy.

Lauren S. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Lauren graduated Cum Laude from Princeton University where she studied Political Theory with minors in "American Ideals and Institutions" and "Values and Public Life". She then went on to Rutgers University where she completed masters work in Public Policy, and begins the next step of her educational career at Harvard Law in fall 2023. She currently works in Philadelphia at Springboard Collaborative, an education non-profit that aims to bridge the opportunity gap by closing the literacy gap in Title 1 schools. Lauren plans to study education law with the ultimate goal of entering the legal field of special education. She wrote her senior thesis on the separate education of elementary students with cognitive disabilities in American public schools. While at Princeton, Lauren was the team captain of the women's varsity lightweight crew team and won in the women's 8+ at the 2021 Collegiate D1 National Championship. Lauren has been involved with Special Olympics from a young age because her younger brother is a Special Olympic athlete; while at undergrad, she ran a Special Olympic Rowing program that serves over 30 adults with disabilities in the Princeton community. The program opens the resources of collegiate boathouses to the broader community, making the sport more accessible and connecting athletes of different backgrounds. At Curious Cardinals, Lauren will teach on disability studies as well as Constitutional Law and Ethics.
